The chaptalization of a book is always a major challenge. More so if the book is of encyclopaedic nature. It is in tune with the title of the book, Kayasth: An Encyclopaedia of Untold Stories. A lot of collective thought has got into selecting these untold stories, but still no claim is made that they are exhaustive. For example, it is a highly migratory community, yet we have not been able to include non-resident Kayasthas settled abroad. However, the fact that we are conscious of such non-inclusions suggest the study is illustrative, not exhaustive.
